- sinead o’connor- nothing compares 2 u (yeah, music video)
- gloria estefan- conga (drill team song!)
- funkytown- lipps inc (what a dumb 90s band name)
- blister in the sun- violent femmes
- hard to handle- black crowes (erin is a master of this one!!! figures!)
- bonnie raitt- give ‘em something to talk about (we laugh just a little too loud!)
- madonna- express yourself (cmon girls!…you know, you know, you’ve got to!!!)
- meatloaf- i would do anything for love (BUT I WON’T DO THAT!!!!)
- salt n pepa- shoop (don’t know how you do the voodoo that you do!)

cool stuff
the king of kong, the greatest light-hearted documentary i have seen in a long time. donkey kong high score challenges!! mullets blowing in the breeze!! some serious unashamed devotion to 80’s video gaming that is really entertaining!!
s.v. floyd, the woman who taught me all i know about mothering (ha!), has a blog now(!).
i bought tickets to a feist show today via a helper with internet access. thanks to that helper…and her graciousness when i joked about being okay with general admission because i’m not 30 yet & can handle standing for long amounts of time.
finished no direction home, the bob dylan doc. loved it. loved it. loved it.
during naptime/after the kids go to bed
since i have ample time to myself today:
-finish watching Paris, Je Taime. this is a 2 hour collection of short films (6 or 7 minutes each) by different directors. i like the pace & themes, so far. reminds me of Nine Lives. There is a particularly stirring short called “Bastille” by Isabel Coixet, and another one with Juliette Binoche that is so moving.
-edit “the cry“, spring 2008 issue
-work on press pot cozy
-drink coffee & think of something to make for lunch tomorrow
burrow
it’s cold. we had gymnastics today & jason has game night tonight, so the kids are going down early for nap. this recipe=kids wake up earlier from naps=go to bed earlier=gives mama more time to enjoy quiet house. i’m planning out the evening so i don’t end up lying on the couch, tired, watching youtube videos.
tonight:
√-read chapter in Peacemaking Women for discussion group next month. thanks to martha for dropping the book off.
√-keep shoving the dirty laundry in the washer, folding the clean & putting it away
√-finish documentary about the shakers
√-tune guitar & practice a little for daphne’s wedding. will. need. lots. of. practice.
-read an hour’s worth of chekhov’s short stories. perfect for winter evening.
√√-take ali’s phone call when she rings from emmylou + patty griffin show.
weekend warrior
we were careful to keep this weekend free, since we’ve been out-of-town or had company for the past month. we stayed up late last night, playing games & watching “my so-called life”, but i’m still hoping to get a few things done today before i crash at noon.
-clean our bedroom
-pick up the back yard
-burn christmas tree
-front porch free from clutter
-schedule meals
-clean out suburban
this is a lame list, i know. i’m trying to figure out wordpress. gimme a break! (i sure deserve it)
